Dental Funds Update

Well, out of the five ads I placed, and the four forums I posted in, I've had 116 unique hits or views, plus how many ever saw it on MySpace, ComicSpace, Yuwie and DeviantArt, and I've not had one single inquiry or job offered.

I did manage to make some contacts via email and have come up with a good chunk of it, though, so we'll see if all that pans out.

I have a suspicion the lack of response may be due to my website, which needs an overhaul, or the current samples I have up there, which are 6 months old in some cases, older in others.

The sites the ads are on are high traffic like Jinxworld and the ComicGeekSpeak forums, but nada. I'm going to try to hit some more places today, so wish me luck.

Comics Now

If you have not checked out this magazine yet you need to soon!

What magazine you say? The title doesn't give it away? Nor the link that is attached to it? The image to the left not ringing any bells either?

If none of these obvious clues register, I am, of course, speaking about Comics Now!, the new comics magazines by Comic Geek Speak and Ape Entertainment. It's actually largely produced by CGS forum members, meaning it's by the fans, for the fans, which, in this case, is a good thing.

For those like me, remember when Wizard was good and full of really cool articles and content far before it strayed onto the much beaten path? That's what Comics Now! offers. It is chock full of interesting and well written content spanning equally from independents to the big two. It also has editorials and short articles as well as the robust feature articles it boasts.

I am also very impressed by the quality of the design of this book. The paper is exquisite, and the layouts, graphics and overall design is as good as anything out there. They chose to use a spine as opposed to the typical stapled magazine format, and it really sets it off. These can fit in your long boxes or on your bookshelf easily.

I was also surprised to see the amount of high quality and big name ads that were throughout the book. There were ads from Top Cow and other larger publishers as well as the little guys like Ape (obviously) and Digital Webbing.

While I haven't read the entire book yet (just received it today), I loved what I did read. There were a few minor typos, and there are a couple of things I'd change in the layout, but overall it was a great first issue.

Though while there was plenty of content as well as a few humorous comic strips, there did seem to be something missing. I can't quite put my finger on it yet. Maybe after I read the whole issue.

I'll come back sometime in the near future with a more complete review, but I have to say if you like comic magazines and miss the "content is king" format of your former favorite, this mag is for you!

I Sound Like a Beggar

So I put out ads and posts looking for lettering work and then realized, at least in the posts (on DigitalWebbing.com and other places) that I might sound a bit desperate. Then I began wondering if that affected the responses I got (which are absolutely none!).

Maybe so. Then again, maybe everyone's broke, or no one has any projects ready for lettering? I don't know, but I offered more services than lettering and still no bites.

Man, I've got to figure out how to make a quick $350 at least fast! Any ideas? No? I didn't think so.

There I go sounding desperate again. Such is life.

Whoas and Woes

Well, I went to the dentist yesterday, and good news is they can help me. Bad news is it's going to cost me $1410 over four months just for some temp work, meaning I have to have 25% down this week ($352.50), which I don't have!

I've been trying like crazy to find some freelance work to raise the cash to no avail so far. I just used a few of my last dollars to put up some ads through Project Wonderful in hopes they'd bring me some work, so we'll see how that goes.

So needless to say, I'm currently for hire for lettering, pre-press, banners (no Flash), logos, or even writing or editing services if anyone's interested!

Contact me at gonzogoose@brantfowler.com or brant@brantfowler.com for rates and all that good stuff.

Here are the ads I put out in case anyone comes across them so you'll know who they're from, like you couldn't tell. :)

It's cold here today! Yesterday it was a little nippy, about 60 degrees or so, and the wind was really high, but today I woke up freezing! We had to turn the heat on to get the chill out. That's the crazy thing about Kentucky weather. It can be 75 one day and 40 the next all year round. No consistency, no dependability, just a mess.

Because of the cold, a bit of my congestion came back overnight. I'm still up and at 'em and able to work and all that, I'm just congested and still occasionally coughing is all.

Not much else to talk about really. I've only been up for about an hour, so I'm still half asleep. Maybe I'll check back in later, maybe not.

Still Feeling Blue... a Little

Well, I'm still sick, but much better today. Saturday I had a fever and it took it's toll. I stayed in bed pretty much all day and night, though I couldn't sleep hardly at all. I'd dose off for about 10-20 minutes at a time, but kept choking, and I had a massive headache.

Yesterday was just a tad bit better. I managed to eat something for the first time in two days, and then last night I slept for 10 straight hours. I woke up a few times, but went right back to sleep. That was a nice, very relaxing and long overdue period of rest.

So today I'm feeling pretty good. I've still got some congestion, but my throat feels better, and my head's not hurting as bad. I'm still stuffy and a bit dizzy, but I'm up, have had a shower, and I feel better than I have since Thursday. So that's a good thing.

I'm still bummed about the Iron Man Premiere that I'm missing. I mean who turns down a chance to go to a world premiere of a summer blockbuster film in New York for free? Me, that's who. Yep, I'm stupid. But that's the way things play out sometimes. Believe me, if there was (or is) any way I can change that I would (will) in a heartbeat.

Since I did absolutely no work over the weekend I'll be back hitting it again today. I may have to go to the dentist (though I probably won't make it today), but aside from that and a little rest, I'll be working. Yep, I'm all excited, can't you sense the enthusiasm?

Unfortunately, all the work I'm doing currently is backend save the website, but I won't get a payment until the end of the week for that.

I finally watched TMNT yesterday afternoon (I had it on tape for a couple of weeks), and I enjoyed it. It wasn't great, and it certainly didn't top that first TMNT live action movie in my opinion, but it was decent.

I have a feeling that today is going to be a good day. I may be wrong, and it may just be another day. And maybe it's just because I'm feeling better, I don't know. Hopefully I'll be right, though, and something good will happen today. We'll see.

Springtime Blues

I am so sick today. I feel like I've been hit by a train! Every body part aches, I'm exhausted, but I can't sleep because I keep coughing and my nose keeps running.

Yesterday it was just mainly my throat, but when I woke up this morning after very little sleep it was all in my chest and head, and my body was just fatigued and achy. I keep going from hot to cold too, and I just can't get situated.

My stomach bothered me all day yesterday too, so all I ate all day was a cheese sandwich. And when I'm sick with my throat, I can't stand to drink anything but Sprite. Everything else (juice, tea, water, etc.) makes me want to puke. And since I'm not supposed to have pop, drinking Sprite all day long didn't help matters with the ol' stomach. No major attacks or anything, just discomfort and some nausea. Today it's a little better, but I'm still drinking Sprite (slowly), so it's still a rumblin' a bit.

It sucks being sick!

I had a chance to go to the Iron Man premiere in New York next week, but stupid me had to turn it down for reasons beyond my control. I really hate myself for that one. Hopefully I'll get another chance to do something that cool.

Keep checking back over the next couple of weeks, I might have some interesting news to share if things pan out, which I think they will. Though, if they do, it might conflict with something else I was planning on doing, so hopefully I'll be able to work both out and have even more news to report in the coming weeks. Good problems, these.

The Wannabez interview on Catch Da Craze Podcast will be up next week sometime I'm told, so be watching for an update on that here.

So, I guess that's about it. I think I'm gonna go take a hot bath!

In with the Cold

My brother has been home sick for the past three days, and as of mid-day today, the whole house is sick. Ugh.

My throat and nose are killing me, and I've got a fever and I'm really fatigued. My mom's the same way, while all my brother had was upper respiratory stuff, no sore throat. He's feeling a bit better now and will be going to school today, but I feel like crap. lol

My brother and I watched Cloverfield yesterday. That was an interesting movie. I didn't know it was made like that, like the whole thing scene through a video camera and stuff. It was a brave way to handle the film, and while it was gory, I thought it was pretty neat how they made it feel like something that really happened. I couldn't make out what the guy said at the end of the credits, though I'm guessing it was some kind of name like Cloverfield, possibly signaling a sequel. Anyone else know what he said?

Lost also came back last night and some interesting things happened there as well. For those who haven't seen it, I won't spoil it. Just know that Ben still has things he's keeping secret, and he has a lot more knowledge of everything than we even thought!

Supernatural was back as well, but it was an odd episode. Next week's looks better.

And of course, Smallville, which I missed the first 15 minutes of because I fell asleep. So I don't know if they showed Lex at the Fortress, but the previews for next week look very intriguing with Clark wearing... glasses!

Well, I woke up in a hot sweat with my throat on fire, and now I can't get back to sleep. Don't know what I'm going to do (stay up, go back to bed, work, goof off...), but I'm done here.

Rip Van Winkle

Just yesterday I talked about my trouble sleeping. Well, I guess it caught up with me, because yesterday morning I laid down and practically slept all day! Then when I woke up, I ate, watched a bit of TV, then went back to sleep until 4AM!

That is the most concurrent sleep I've had in weeks!

Oddly, I don't feel refreshed now, but more tired! lol. I hope I can shake that feeling and just get up and go today.

We shall see...

American Idol

Forgot to include this one in my last post of shows watched. Yep, reality TV for me. I also forgot Smallville and Supernatural (which returns this week!), but I digress.

Man, tonight's elimination was a shocker! I did not see that one coming. I get it, I just was surprised. Vocally, she's one of the best this season, and I had her (Carly Smithson) in my top three. I thought for sure Brooke White and Jason Castro would be in the bottom three, but I guess their fans, sensing that they had a horrible week this week, voted like crazy and got them saved for another week.

Carly got on my nerves week in, week out though. Not because of her singing, but because of her personality. She was very bland for weeks, and every time she sang there was no connect with the crowd, and she always looked so intense and almost angry when she sang. Then, the past couple of weeks, almost in answer to that concern, she has been overly jovial and giddy. I think she tried way too hard to overcome the first stigma, and I think she was a victim of people voting heavily for other contenders. I'm sure she'll be alright.

I like Brooke White and Jason Castro, but they had bad performances this week. I agree with Paula, I don't think you should ever stop and start again when singing, that's just not professional. And being Broadway week, I can't imagine someone in Rent or whatever stopping and restarting a song during a live show. They wouldn't last long on Broadway if that happened.

I thought Syesha did good this week, but I just don't think she's as good as she thinks she is sadly.

The two Davids are still my picks for the finale, and while it could go either way, I'm giving the nod to Archuletta. Cook will be okay regardless. Brooke will probably be top three now if she can pull out some more good performances. Next week Syesha will go, then Jason.

That's my prediction anyway.

In and Out

Well, after missing like two weeks of posting, the other day I tried to make up for it with three or four posts in one day, but then I disappear for a few more days.

Sorry, I just haven't really felt like being online more than I have to the past several days. This past weekend I didn't feel well, and plus my sleep schedule is all messed up again. I literally go to bed at a drastically different time every day, and I rarely sleep more than three hours at a time. Ugh.

I honestly haven't gotten a lot of lettering done in the past week, but I plan on making up for that the latter part of this week and the weekend. I have one small 5 page job to get done over the next couple of days, then another after that, and then some stuff for Hard Way Studios.

I'm also working on a website design (why, I don't know. lol), which is starting to come along. I did the forums first, now I've got the home page done, but we're considering trying a different look now, so... It's just a basic site as I know no Flash or anything, and it will be largely forum based, but it's still time consuming.

Haven't watched any movies recently surprisingly enough. I have been keeping up with my reality cooking shows though (Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen), as well as Ultimate Fighter and BSG. And of course wrestling. Aside from those, not much TV either, and no video games. I'm reading a little, but not much. Mainly I just work and sleep, and where the rest of the time goes I have no clue. lol

My secret little project I've hinted at for a while is off and running, I think. I may have scared someone involved with too many details, but we'll see.

Finances are rough at the moment, but I'm surviving as always. That said, I won't beg, but if you got jobs needing to be done that I'm capable of doing...

This year is going by so fast. I can't believe it's almost May already! Before I know it, the convention will be here, and then WW Texas if things work out on that front. This will be a cool year if things pan out.

I mentioned the Wannabez site going live a few days ago, and I believe I also mentioned the store. Yeah, I know, CafePress may not be the best avenue, and it can be pricey, but it's a start. That said, we want to add more stuff (specifically more images to go on the stuff), so let me know what you'd like to see. What characters you'd prefer on the products, what products you'd consider buying, and so forth.

With that, methinks it might be nappy time as I've been up since early last evening. Man, I gotta get back in a rhythm!

Farewell, Joseph Button, You Will Be Missed

I have put off posting this for a week now, but it's time. I just haven't been able to find the words to properly express what I wanted to. This is the second death that has taken me by surprise in just a few weeks, and after the first, it just took me a while to get my bearings.

Last Thursday, April 10th, Joseph Button passed away at the age of 24. Joe was a fellow comic creator who I had gotten to know, virtually, over the past year. He was a columnist for Silver Bullet Comics, writing film reviews in his Screenwriter column. He had approached Alan and myself about writing for the site, and we were both moved not only by his story, but also by his tremendous talent.

See, Joseph Button had a disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy from the age of one. Doctors said he wouldn't live past the age of two, but he made it all the way to 24. He was a paraplegic, and he lived his life mostly from his bed and in wheelchairs. In the past couple of years it had gotten so bad he couldn't even hold comics in his hands.

I say all this not to induce pity for the man, because he wouldn't have wanted that. Joe was a unique individual whose heart and mind were bigger than the capabilities of his being. He had so many dreams and aspirations, but unlike many of us he was actually actively pursuing them! He was involved with comics, screenwriting, and other business endeavors. Through the use of assistants and voice programs he was constantly writing, creating, hoping to achieve his dreams some day. He had lofty goals, but he was never afraid to reach for them. There were no limits as far as Joseph Button was concerned.

I was always amazed by the creativity and the raw, natural talent the man possessed. His writing was superb, and I'm surprised he wasn't already far more successful than he was. He had a knack for writing, and I will always cherish what little of his writing I had the honor to read.

Joseph Button was to be part of something myself and a few select others are starting up soon, and his writing would once again play a big part in my every day life. Now, unfortunately, we won't have the chance to work together again. We were also set to speak over headsets for the first time real soon, and now I won't have the privilege of doing that either.

But I'm not sad. Not because I don't miss him, or because I didn't know him as well as I would have liked, but because knowing him the short amount of time I did greatly enriched my life. If Joe, given his conditions, can so hungrily go after his dreams without regret and without retreat, how can someone as I who has all their faculties not do the same? Joseph Button inspired me to do more, to be more, to always reach and never stop. But more than that, Joseph Button was a friend, and one that I will dearly miss.

Today, Joe's family will not hold a typical funeral service, but will hold a celebration of Joe's life. He touched many, and his character outweighs even his accomplishments and talents. His family is proud of the man he was, and wishes to honor him as such. While I won't be there in person, I will respect their wishes and do the same.

If anyone who knew Joe would like to pay their respects and join his family in celebrating his life, the celebration will be held at the Button home today from 1-5pm.

From the Button Family:

Joe defied the odds and lived nearly 25 years with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare medical condition,
when doctors predicted he wouldn't live past age 2. He lived each day with enthusiasm and accomplished so much in life, always with the desire to help others. In death he chose to donate his body for medical research with the hope that something might be learned about his disease. We would like to continue Joe's wish of helping others and have created a memorial fund for those that would like to contribute in Joe's name.

Society's Plague

While this isn't really my style of music, I am very proud of this band. Society Plague is my cousin's band (he sings lead). I've seen this band grow from a couple of aspiring musicians, to a garage band living down the street from me, to a growing success in the making, playing all over the place.

They just added a new song to their MySpace page, and it's pretty good I think. You can tell the improvement in the quality of the music and the vocals even from the other songs on their profile.

And check out these cool t-shirts emblazoned with their logo, which you can purchase from the MySpace page I think, for $10:

They are also in a Battle of the Bands contest and are trying to get added on to the Warped Tour. If you can spare a minute or two each day, you can vote once a day for them. Do that here:

Congrats on all your success, Matt. Keep rockin'!

Wannabez Site Live!

Scott did an amazing job getting this site built for us. I helped just a little, but he did most of the work, and I think it looks great! So check it out:

www.wannabezcomic.com

I also redesigned the Wannabez blog to match the site, and you can find that link on the site.

We do have a cafepress store, but there's not really anything in there yet. I'm hoping to work with the design of the store this week, and Scott is trying to get some more images together for next week to add to the products.

And as mentioned in the last post, Wannabez has its first podcast interview coming up real soon!

Let the Wannabez revolution begin!

Sorry for the Absence

Been pretty busy this week, and I just haven't had the energy to keep up with the posts.

I'm working on a web design project right now amongst the lettering, and I'm trying to get some other non-comic related freelance jobs at the moment, so I'll be disappearing from time to time while I line all that up.

In general, I've been doing okay. I've had a couple rough days health wise this week, but overall I'm still feeling pretty good. Still eating light and healthy for the most part.

I'll have an announcement next month sometime I think that's kind of exciting, so be looking for that.

My first podcast interview should be posted any day now. We thought it would already be up, but I'm sure NYCC coverage kind of knocked it back a bit.

More posts to come...

Popcorn and Candy

So, I watched a few movies the past few days, including Good Luck Chuck, 30 Days of Night, The Game Plan, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and I Am Legend. But before I get into those, I want to talk about something else related.

I usually don't let what other people think of films get to me too much. Sure, before I rent a movie I'll look up average ratings if I'm questioning whether I'd like it or not. But I don't typically read full reviews of movies until after I seem them, and if it's a movie I really want to see I avoid as much press as possible generally speaking.

However, there was one time I didn't, and it affected my movie going experience immensely, and that was with Spider-Man 3. I had read conversations and reviews of that film before ever going to see it, and all the fanboys basically trashed it. Somehow, I let that affect my enjoyment of the film, and instead of just going and enjoying it, I found myself analyzing it from start to finish. It completely took me out of the film, and I hated that.

So, I got the movie for Christmas, and I have yet to watch it again because I'm purposely waiting for all that negativity and other peoples' views to get out of my head so I can try and just enjoy it for what it is.

It just frustrates me to know that I got sucked in, because, generally speaking, I think "fanboys" are way too harsh on films and expect them to measure up in every single possible way to the source material, be it a comic, novel, play, etc., ignoring the fact that some things have to be changed to reach a mass audience. I typically go into a movie with no expectations and just try to enjoy it for what it is. The only two franchises that came from novels that I ever read were Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, so obviously there was some expectation there. But I wasn't so enthralled with the source material not to open myself to what the films could be, even if they were slightly different.

All that said, that plays a part in a few of the movies I mentioned above.

First up is Good Luck Chuck, a film I honestly could have lived without seeing. I knew it would be a little raunchy, but I had no idea how raunchy. I unfortunately got a hold of the unrated edition, and I was sorely disappointed. Not just in the trashy theme of the whole film, but with the overall plot and acting. I'm a big Jessica Alba fan, not just because of her looks, but because I think she really is a good actress with range, and she showed that here. Her comedic timing and instinct was flawless in my opinion. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast basically blew. This was a huge disappointment. I don't think I'll ever watch another Dane Cook film. Employee of the Month was... ok, but this was just bad. And the guy's not funny at all, in the film, on the internet, in interviews or anything. I don't get the hype surrounding the guy at all.

30 Days of Night is one of those comic properties that fanboys would go crazy talking about. I stayed away from most conversations, so I'm not sure if it was well received by comicdom or not. I've never read the books, but the premise is very intriguing to me, so I checked it out. And I have to say overall it was a decent and suspensful movie. It went a little fast with not much build up or explanation, and I absolutely HATED the ending, but it was still worth watching.

I'm also a big fan of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, both in wrestling and in the movies. I think he's a solid and talented actor, and I've enjoyed everything he's been in, even Doom... well, a little. Walking Tall, The Rundown and Gridiron Gang were phenomenal in my opinion. And The Game Plan was pretty good too. It was a nice, fun, family film, and The Rock's personality was huge as usual. And his miniature co-star was a great young actress as well. It was nice to enjoy a lighthearted, fun film for a change.

And speaking of fun films, next up is Alvin and the Chipmunks. Now, I'm a huge fan of Alvin, Simon and Theodore from way back. I watched the cartoons, had the toys, and watched The Chipmunk Adventure more times than I can remember. I still love that film and feel it hold's up 21 years later. So I was hopeful, yet fearful, that this CGI/live action film would live up to the classic cartoons. And for me, it completely did, 100%! I thought the film was great. They captured every single character almost flawlessly. I thought Dave's yells for Alvin were a little less dramatic than they should be, and there wasn't enough focus on Alvin, but by and large, this film delivered the same feeling those cartoons did, which was pure fun and enjoyment. I loved the movie personally.

And finally, I Am Legend. There was so much buzz about this film, both in the film world and in the comic world. It's, I think, the third incarnation of the property under a different name. I can't remember the source material, nor have I read the book (which everyone says is better) or seen the other films, so I had absolutely no expectations going in. But this was another one of those that everyone around me was just trashing because "the book was much better", yadda, yadda. Will Smith is another favorite actor of mine, and I think I've seen everything he's been in to date. So I was going to check this out regardless, and I wasn't disappointed. I think it could have been a bit longer (it clocked in around an hour and 40 minutes) and given us just a tad more character, but it was a solid film that got the point across, and gave us a definite beginning, middle and end with closure. I was saddened by the ending, but unlike 30 Days of Night, I wasn't mad about it. The way 30 ended just didn't seem like the only solution - it felt like a cop out almost. No, that's not the right term. It was forced and felt put in for drama instead of serving the plot or bringing the film to a real conclusion. Whereas with this film there was no other solution. Add to that Will Smith's knack for deep emotional roles (see Pursuit of Happyness if you ever doubt this) and this was a 4 out of 5 for me. Not quite the best it could be, but far better than what others have said about it. Maybe my opinion would be different had I read the book. If so, I'm glad I didn't prior, so I could enjoy the film.

And that's my take on those films.I love movies, and I'd watch them every day if I could. I just don't get to as often as I'd like, nor do I get to talk about them much. So thanks for letting me rant on about them today.

Quickie

It's the weekend, so I thought I'd post a quick little ditty here.

Comic Book Resources (CBR - www.comicbookresources.com) relaunched their site earlier this week with a brand new design, and I have to say it looks pretty spiffy. Good luck getting it to load, though, I've tried since yesterday morning with little success. Supposedly they're on a new server that's making things run smoother... or was making things run smoother...

Comic Related (www.comicrelated.com) has become one of my daily visits as it's just a cool site that is updated every day of the year. For the month of march they had 1.2 million hits, so they are growing steadily and have great content and a thriving forum community.

Battlestar Galactica returned for it's final season last night picking things up right where last season left off. It was a solid and entertaining episode in my opinion. Things seem to really be coming to a head on all fronts, so I'm excited to see where this season goes.

I'm still enjoying the book I'm reading, The Servants of Twilight, by Dean Koontz. I'm 53 chapters in and things are still keeping my interest.

Iron Man is less than a month away!

On the lettering front, everything's going smoothly, progressing nicely. I'm available for jobs if anyone's hiring!

I wish I could figure out how some of my contemporaries are making money online through blogs or whatever, but I just haven't been too successful myself. Some of the methods I have employed have not yet been that fruitful. I'm going to keep trying though...

Nothing on TV tonight, whatever will I do? What's that you say, get a life? What's that? :)

Health wise I'm doing ok. Had a semi-rough day yesterday, and allergies hit me this week, but nothing major and no attacks. I'm still watching what I eat, though I have gotten a bit braver in small increments, testing stuff. I've discovered a few things I can't do (like peas), and I'm still largely staying away from pop and most sweets and snack foods like chips. Gall stones bite!

My picks for American Idol right now are the two Davids (Archuletta and Cook), Carly Smithson, Brooke White and Michael Johns for the top 5. Beyond that it'll be tough.

Digital Webbing's talent search feature took a hit this week as scammers have made a residence there, forcing Ed Dukeshire to reevaluate the system. For now, all talent search links go straight to the Help Wanted forum. It's a shame a couple of idiots have to ruin a great feature for everyone.

And I guess that's about it for now. I hope you all have a wonderful, fun-filled, and/or relaxing weekend!

Pencilneck Optioned for Film

I just finished lettering Pencilneck #4 and will be lettering the second half of #3 this week. Well today news broke that the property has been optioned for film by Benderspink (click the post title to read the article)!

While I only had a small part in this book, it's still pretty cool to see a title I worked on gain potential success and recognition like this.

The book is about a mild mannered bank manager who gets caught up in a mob war and it could make one really good movie.

Congrats to Victor Carungi and crew for this wonderful accomplishment!

It's April!

Wow, someone told me the other day I hadn't posted in a week and I hadn't even realized it. I have been sooo busy this past week, though, so it's understandable.

I won't bore you with the details, just know I've gotten a lot done, some on the previous schedules, some additional stuff. I've still got stuff to do, but I'm nowhere near as bogged down as I was, thankfully.

So today is the day of pranks, lies, false news stories and shenanigans. I got a few people really good last year with a post I made on this very blog, so I'm withholding this year.

I haven't read any false news stories, comic related or otherwise, yet, or at least I don't think I have. I know of one or two, but haven't read any myself.

I got bummed because I thought I found a really cool gig that was well paying, but the provider withdrew the job for some reason. This was via a freelancer site that has job listings and so forth. That job would have been easy and made a huge contribution to my bills. Oh well.

I've been feeling pretty good the past week in case anyone's wondering. No episodes, no days of just feeling terrible. I'm always in a slight bit of discomfort, but nothing that keeps me from functioning.

So in general, all is well for the most part.

I wish I had more to talk about, some fun or interesting story or experience to share, or some witty banter just for the fun of it. But alas, I have nothing, people. I'm too busy to have a life trying to stay afloat, so no stories from me. Maybe someday soon though. If this year goes as plans, I'll have a lot more to talk about in the weeks and months to come.

Until then, I guess you'll just have to settle for what I can give when I can give it, and hopefully that will be enough. :)
