Rogue Wolf Entertainment

This is a company I letter and edit for, and I found out today that Lance Stahlberg, one of the owners, did an interview over at Jazma in which he mentions me briefly.

Did I mention that we also have Sean Taylor, who writes some of the Gene Simmons comics over at IDW Publishing, working on one of our books? That's pretty cool if you ask me, and he's a cool guy too.

So, if you want to check out Lance's interview click the title of this post!

Stories Brewing

I finally came up with the start of a concept for that Shadowline contest I mentioned a couple of posts back. Mind you, I haven't spent a great deal of time on thinking of ideas, but one kind of came to me yesterday, so I may run with it and submit it. What's the worst that could happen? I could get rejected again? Big whoop. Happens to everyone. Regardless, I guess I should at least try for the chance to be published by an imprint of one of the top four publishers. I'll keep you posted on how that goes. Deadline is Thursday.

Not much else going on right now. I'm lettering today and that's about it. I did get to watch the Royal Rumble last night, so if you want to know what I thought, head over to my other blog, Kayfabe.

And that's a wrap for now. More when I have more to talk about.

Frustrated

Man, I am SOOOO frustrated at the moment with one individual and one situation. Unfortunately, the situation has affected nearly all aspects of my life, and my livelihood, and it's upsetting me to no end.

I won't go into the situation here, but those of you close to me can figure it out. Suffice it to say, things have gotten worse on that front, and it's really starting to get to me.

But it's one of those situations that you're crapped if you do, crapped if you don't. In other words, whichever move I make still leaves me no guarantees and no resolution. And that's the most frustrating part of it all.

I just wish some people would man up is all. Just do what you're supposed to do is all I ask, and with some normal human decency.

Perhaps I'm being a little harsh considering what the individual is currently going through, but it's not just affecting me, it's affecting my family, and so many other things right now. So I'm a little short on sympathy at the moment.

I don't mean to unload on all of you out there, I just had to get this off my chest. And since this person isn't responding to emails or phone calls, and in person is not an option, I don't have anywhere else to vent.

This person will probably read this, and maybe it will result in contact, maybe it will hurt me worse, but I just don't care anymore. In fact, if you are reading this, PLEASE contact me so we can get things resolved one way or the other.

How's all that for a weekend uplifter? :)

I'm not in a bad mood in general, just so everyone knows. I'm just frustrated with this situation, and upon revealing events today, it just made me angry is all. So I'm venting. It's been a while, so I'm entitled.

Moving Along

I finished up a small lettering job today that I'm hoping leads to something. Can't talk about it right now, but I'll keep you posted as I can.

I have another 5-page lettering job for a submission to finish today, and some pages of AOH to go. And some others of course. Still catching up, but doing it a steady, don't want to kill myself, rate, so that's always good. :)

I'm sending in a writing resume today for something. I won't say what until I know if it's going to pan out, but hopefully it will also lead to good things.

I'm still contemplating on whether or not to enter that Shadowline writing contest (as seen here) or not. The deadline is Thursday, but I just haven't come up with anything good enough to enter. Not that I've really given it much thought, mind you - just haven't had the time.

This year I am sincerely hoping to do some travelling, specifically to some conventions and so forth. We'll see how that all works out. I'd love to go to Wizard World Chicago and San Diego Comic Con. I was planning on going to Mid-Ohio Comic-Con, but since Roger Price, the guy who runs it, is stepping down, I'm not sure if there will be a show this year (depends on if anyone else buys it, and if they can produce a show in time). It's the closest one to me, so obviously the most logical one to attend. But I have friends in Chicago and would love to go to that one. And of course, I've never been to SDCC, so that would be an experience.

In fact, I've never been to any major con. I've only been to one local convention many years ago, and that's it. So I'd love to go to at least one con this year.

Then there's a possible trip to Australia at some point, but more about that as I know.

Suffice it to say, I'm hoping things work out better this year and I can actually get out and do the things I really want to do (I haven't even been on a vacation in about 5 years!).

So for now, I'll just keep moving along, and pray for a break here and there. :)

False Hope

Argh! I got the dates wrong. I thought Smallville and Supernatural were back new tonight, but they're new next week, incidentally during the two-hour season premiere of Lost! Again I say, Argh!

It's times like these I really wish I had Tivo. But nope, I'm still using the antiquated VCR, which means blank tapes galore! Sigh. Now I just have to figure out who I'm gonna kick off their TV to tape one or the other. :)

Another bit of false hope was my progress for the day. I thought I was going to get a LOT more done today, but such was not the case. I did get some of what I had planned done, but not as much as I would have liked.

Speaking of which, all the lettering is going steadily, and other things I'm working on are chugging along.

I haven't been posting at SBC regularly at all lately for various reasons. And today I checked the stats for the site (just the site as a whole - I don't have access to numbers for individual pages) and noticed it has been steadily declining since about September/October in both views and new visitors. It still does pretty well, but there's a noticeable drop off. Hmmm...

I taped American Idol last night only to find that the channel messed up, so the sound quality was terrible. I had to turn the sound all the way up and deal with the very loud music, but barely audible speaking and singing for an hour. Oh joy.

I was going to take a nap this afternoon because for some reason I was very tired even though I got a full night's sleep, but before I knew it 6:30 came along and I was still at the computer slaving away.

And that about sums up today's false hope.

Back on the Saddle

Wow! Nearly THREE WEEKS since my last post, I can't believe it's been that long. I kept telling myself, "tomorrow". Oh well, I'm here now!

I've been keeping myself busy between lettering, editing, typing and logo design lately, and I think I've gotten quite a bit accomplished, but still have a ways to go at present.

I picked up another pretty much permanent lettering gig. I did issue 6 of the series and the guy liked it so much he offered me pretty much all the upcoming issues, so that was really cool. It was a fun book to work on.

I also picked up a couple of small jobs and a couple of logos, so I'm working on all that plus what I have left of the backlog.

I got some exciting news from a client non-lettering related that I can't talk about yet, but it's pretty big, at least I think it is. I'll talk about it when it's official and the press release is out.

Young Explorers, the book I'm assisting in the operation of, is going along smoothly. It won an award and it's not even published yet! It'll be in the April Previews, so I'll keep you posted about that one also.

I've got a phone meeting about an endeavor tomorrow night, and hopefully things will go well with that. It's time, but I can't talk about it yet either.

In the meantime, this weekend I've really gotten into this Facebook thing. I got invited by several friends and finally dove in. It's quite a different experience as compared to MySpace with all the games, quizzes and activities you can participate in. It's pretty fun, I just hope I have enough time to devote to it. :)

I also got into Yuwie a while back. With that one you make a little bit of money for posting, adding pictures, adding friends and so forth. So if you guys check out that link and like what you see be sure to sign up under me!

The weather seems to have calmed down now. Over the past week we've had rain, snow and tornado watches! But it seems pretty mild today.

American Idol started back up last week amidst some controversy about a former contestant saying they had entered a decline. While I still enjoy the show, I have to say so far it's the same old stuff we see year in, year out and it is getting a little old. I sincerely hope they have some really, really good singers this year...

I have now seen all of Battlestar Galactica (the present series) and know all the backstories, so I'm really looking forward to what is probably the last season this March. And I can't forget that Lost comes back at the end of this month! And Smallville and Supernatural are new this week too!

I saw Stardust yesterday, and I pretty much enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if I would like it or not, but it was pretty entertaining.

And I guess that'll do it for another three weeks, right? Nah, I won't keep you guys hanging for that long. :)

A New Beginning

The year has begun anew once more as we say goodbye to 2007 and hello to 2008. Yes, I'm a day late, but hey, I wasn't online yesterday. Not that I was out having fun or anything, just wasn't online. My New Year's resolution? Get a life! So there ya go. :)

In all seriousness, I was actually a little down over New Year's for some reason. I'm not sure why, but I got in a little two-day funk which I am thankfully passed now. And I am very hopeful for the new year that it will be a much more fruitful, overall beneficial and enjoyable year than the last two, which weren't all that great for me. Last night as I went to bed a simple phrase just started repeating in my brain over and over again: "remember the good times". So that's what I'm doing, remembering the good times, not looking back, but looking forward to better things while living in today. So far, so good one day into it all. I'll keep you posted.

Scott's friend, by the way, did a drawing of Mau from Wannabez, which Scott has posted on the WBZ blog, which you can find by clicking the title of this post.

I started back on work today, slowly but surely, mostly editing today. Lettering will most likely resume tomorrow.

Over Christmas I surprisingly lost 4 pounds, 7 total for a week, and that's quite odd as I mainly ate junkfood all holiday long. I think I've picked a couple back up, but that was a nice Christmas present at the time. :)

I got to talk on the phone with a friend I haven't seen in about three years last night, so that was cool. Strangely we didn't have a lot to say and just kept asking how things and people were. haha. Oh well, the important thing is we talked, so good times all around.

I had contemplated on waxing philosophical in this post, but it's just not in me at the moment. I'm still in that in between stage of the total slacker mentality the holidays bring on and the getting back in the mind of work mode, so I'm not yet firing on all cylinders. That, and the events of my life of late have left me with nothing profound to bestow on you, so more than likely any "philosophical" nuggets would be rantings of sweets, eggnog and late night sandwiches at this point.

And with that...

P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
