Words, Words, Words

J. Michael Straczynski has been writing a column over at Newsarama for a few weeks with the same title of this post. The latest installment, while very long, is very, very, very good. In it JMS talks about the reason to write, when to write, what to write and simply that you should get it done. And all those suggestions focus on what YOU like!
It's not really new to any of us who have been writing for any length of time, but it is very well put and very encouraging, or at least it was for me.
For those living under a rock who don't know who JMS is, he wrote Babylon 5 for TV, and has been writing Amazing Spider-Man for quite some time now. He's done a ton of other stuff, but those are probably the two most notable.
He also wrote a book on scriptwriting for film and television that I have read through two or three times. Very informative stuff there.
Anyway, if you are a writer you WILL enjoy this column, I guarantee it.

JMS' television work has been outstanding, and some of his comic book work has been superior, but my God, his work on Amazing Spider-Man has been some of the worst writing I've ever seen in mainstream comics. Just appalling and suffice to say, very disappointing.
I'll agree with you there. I stopped reading AMS because of that actually. I've picked up some issues, but it really isn't great. But his other writing is very good.
