Myth Conceptions

Got the official word today. I will be taking over Jason [Berek-Lewis]'s column at www.silverbulletcomics.com, Myth Conceptions starting later this week!

When Jason announced he was leaving the column I started to wonder if there would be an opening at SBC for another column. I thought about maybe asking if I could continue Jason's column, but then I wasn't sure I could do justice to what he had started.

So then I pitched the idea of doing a different column. However, when asked what it would be about I realized I had no clue. Instead I spent a very long email detailing what I didn't want to do and asking for suggestions.

The next day I decided I probably overwhelmed SBC with my diatribe (which wasn't true) so I took another look at Jason's column. I began seeing a different direction form and before long had written the first installment, which would be an introduction and a nod to Jason.

Long story short, I sent that to SBC, they liked it, they gave it to me. I've already written the second installment as well and the third is waiting to pour out of me.

Right now Jason's farewell installment is up at http://www.silverbulletcomics.com/news/story.php?a=1095

As I stated, my version of Myth Conceptions will debut around Wednesday or Thursday of this week, and will (for now) be bi-weekly. I will be on it for a few months at least, then who knows?

Now you may ask why I want to write another column? And why not do it at Comic Avalanche? Plain and simple, I wanted to widen my horizons and gain access to more readers. I've already done a couple of interviews for SBC, so this is a natural progression. It's also my hope that readers of Myth Conceptions will find their way to Indy-Pendant, and vice versa.

I want to thank Jason for giving me his blessing. Jason is a great writer who you can catch on the Industrial Evolution column at www.brokenfrontier.com weekly. You can also check out his blog (in the sidebar) to find out about his first published works coming later this year.

I also want to thank Jonathon, formerly at SBC, who gave me a shot with the interviews, and Jenny and Alan who had the confidence in me to give me the greenlight on this column.

I hope you all tune in!

B-Out

Ha! So, I have passed the baton, and you inherit my legacy ... Sounds weird.

Well, good luck with Myth Conceptions. I'll be reading!

Thanks guys, I'm excited about it too!

Believe it or not, Jason and I hadn't even discussed it until after he had left and I had already contacted them about my interest to do a column.

Anyway, in a few months, or as soon as we figure out a cool idea for another column, I may get another one. One of them will be more frequent than the other of course.

But it doesn't stop there. I have a couple of surprises in store when the column starts hitting!

And Jason, my pleasure on the mention in Indy-Pendant!

Lol. So I've been told. :)

But in theory (!) I plan to write the Myth Conceptions columns far enough ahead that I can focus on the other one. I also plan to start writing the Indy-Pendant column two or three columns ahead, but that becomes increasingly harder to do as I learn of new stuff. Especially with my request in the latest edition about reviewing!

Man, maybe I am crazy! Nah...maybe... ;)
