Rejections
Well, I heard back from Marvel today. They declined allowing me to send in writing samples. That's the third rejection letter I've gotten from Marvel all together. I kind of figured as much, me being a virtually unproven writer and all, but it still hurts. I wish they had waited until after Christmas. :)
Seriously though I just wish I had the opportunity to at least show them my work rather than being turned away before even seeing what I'm capable of. I know of other writers that have my level of experience that have gotten to pitch, so I don't know what I did wrong that they did right.
Anyway, I'll get over it and look at the positives. I didn't expect to be picked up by Marvel with nothing published anyway, I just wanted to make them aware of me, but I didn't even get that chance. Oh well.
So I'll add that one to the stack and once I'm successful I'll look back on them with a sense of pride knowing I overcame the obstacles and the naysayers; knowing I proved them wrong, and hopefully got them to take a chance on me finally.
So here's to rejection letters! They are yet another factor that drives me to succeed!

well, i hate that they sent you a rejection letter, especially right before the holidays, but i think you have the right attitude about it. the world of comics is full of editors and peons that do everything they can to maintain the status quo and keep new people out. if you let them get you down, then they win. you have the Platinum gig, which i know will lead to other work. you are kicking butt with the letters, which will get you in the door at some point as well, so don't sweat it. it will happen. i considered going to Image and getting work as a janitor at one point in the mid 90s but i didnt figure they would take me seriously. lol i had a wall worth of rejection letters, but i look at it like this, i can write one more script than they can rejection letter.
LOL.....Nice Cary!
And Brant, I am sure you will get to where you want to be, sooner than later I would guess. Success is often given to those who are the most determined! I know it's worked for me in the past on the few occasions I have fought for something. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for all your support, guys.
Cary, that's hilarious. Funny thing is I have been wanting to move to CA for years now, and eventually I will, and I've often thought about trying to get some low level job there also. lol.
Every rejection brings you one step closer to the ultimate writing gig!
