Posting Peanuts

Just thought I'd quickly let you all know that I am going to try my best to post daily or at least every other day from here on out. Not for any particular reason other than I don't want to lose readers and I want to keep you all informed and conversing. It's also a very therapeutic procedure for me, so it's good all around.

Just another short note, I recently got to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I rather liked the film. I had read both books in grade school and seen the first film several times and just loved the entire concept. Gene Wilder is an excellent actor and fit the part better than anyone in that era could have I think.

I have to say when I first heard of the remake I was excited until I discovered Johnny Depp was playing Wonka. Now I'm a Depp fan, but he just didn't fit the part to me. I wanted to see someone like Robin Williams tackle the part. That would have been hilarious. But regardless, Depp did a decent job and his expressions and mannerisms were just right for the wacky sense of humor this version of Wonka had.

I was disappointed with the slight change in plot and the couple of scenes at the end they changed and/or left out though. But overall I'd give it probably a 7 out of ten. It's a good movie to sit back with your family on a Sunday night and watch. So it was good times for the most part.

And that's it for me tonight. I've got a LOT to do and little time to do it in, but I'll manage. :)

I've been scared to see this because I actually love the original - Gene Wilder is awesome as Willy Wonka ...

I'll put this on my "DVDs to watch while on holiday" list and see if I get around to it!

Heh, heh, cool. Let me warn you, they left out the scene where Charlie and Grandpa Joe drink the soda that makes them float, and they pretty much did away with the whole Gobstopper theft plot, so those are two really disappointing losses from the story. However, they modernized some of the oompa loompa songs and showed their strange origin. Like I said, all in all it was decent. :)
