Odds and Ends

My old co-worker, Cary Kelley (I've worked for him and over him for two different comic companies) went and got himself a column over at silverbulletcomics.com where he basically talks about whatever's on his mind concerning comics. You can check out the first installment here: Merely This and Nothing More: To Begin at the Beginning... He also has had a blog for quite some time now where he talks about a lot of stuff including the dolphins he sees near the gulf down in the Hurricane prevalent area of Louisiana. Even has some pics. Check it out: in other words..

Cary also owns Paper Dragonz, a company I was EIC over earlier this year. I'm not sure when they're new debut date is, but you can check out the site.

My boys Doug Bryan and Adrian Wilkins, along with John DaCosta recently got interviewed by Newsarama on a new series coming out of Infinity_Uprising called Metro coming out this winter. You can read the interview here: Infinity_Uprising and Metro.

Doug is the CEO of I_U and a darn good writer. He also used to work for the company Cary Kelley and I met at. Adrian, better known as Supreme Knight around these internet parts, is another writer I met working with a small failed studio called Cerebral Steel. Now he and I both are doing projects for Midnight Studio Comics and collaborating on a few other projects outside of the studios for now. The 12 Rings title he mentions in the interview is a very cool book (which I'm lettering, by the way) and I look forward to seeing it come out.

Great things are in store from the writers above, mark my words.

At The Comic Avalanche this week, so far, we have new reviews for House of M #8, Seven Soldiers: The Bulleteer #1 and JSA #79. More to come throughout the weekend. We also have new installments of various columns daily (as the columns are weekly covering each day of the week. Some days we have several new columns available). We also have great things upcoming from the 'Lanche in the near future! In the meantime check out the cool new design, which is being tweaked on a daily basis, the cool new letters page forums, and the brand new WEB STORE where all back issues are at 50% or less of book value from now through January 1, 2006!

Aside from all that, I have a terrible cold right now, so I probably won't be as active as normal for the next couple of days. Not that I have really been a daily blogger though, but I look to improve that. And with what Mark Millar's going through I don't have a right to complain. That being said, not much else going on around here as of yet. Oh...

I don't remember if I mentioned it, but I recently submitted a project called Wanabez to Platinum, Alias and Image. I know it'll be a while before I hear from them, but I'll do my best to keep you all posted here.

In the meantime, here is a sneak peak:

This is slated to be a web comic at proletariatcomics.com, but if all goes well it will be picked up by a publisher and still have shorts as an e-comic at the site. Proletariat has been very supportive of my endeavors. The artist and colorist, Scott D.M. Simmons and Kyle D. McHenry respectively, have been great as well. The cover looks awesome as do the pages I've seen thus far. I'm very excited about this project. It started out as a submission to Marvel's Epic line, received some initial interest, but I couldn't get revisions in before they closed their doors. Thems the breaks. PC took interest in it, then Platinum showed a little interest, and I just decided Alias and Image would both be good fits for the title.

You can check out more about it at Proletariat in the coming weeks, as well as check out more of the art at this page Scott set up: http://www.scottdmsimmons.com/wbzdw.htm

In brief other news before I go, I recently emailed a columnist, one who works in the industry, a thank you note for a great column. In return the columnist read my bio and passed my name along to a publisher who's had some success, which may amount in some lettering work or it may amount to nothing. But the fact that it happened alone is pleasantly surprising and I am full of gratitude. I'll keep you posted.!

Good luck with Wanabez! You motivate me to do as much work as you do!

Thanks, man. Lol, glad I could be an inspiration. You keep it up and we'll inspire each other...especially if you get that Liefeld plug!
